The Blitz Capitol Hill Art Walk is this Thursday! If you are already going to be on Capitol Hill on Thursday, October 14th to check out the Vis-a-Vis performance (which you should be), pop by and check out Graham's show and the ZAPP space. If you haven't already, you may want to get on Richard Hugo House's mailing list. The list will provide you with lots of fun, indoor, often free, and all-ages events that the house hosts.
Below is some press from ZAPP (Zine Archive Production Project) at Richard Hugo House. Last year I volunteered at the ZAPP library, and I teach occasion workshops in Zine construction there. It's a great place to go and look through all the self-published itty-bitty-but-often-awesome journals. There is also a space for constructing a master copy of your own zine. ZAPP frequently has interesting art exhibits in the library, and it is just an interesting, laid-back space to meet people who are interested in comics, zines, art, and D.I.Y. creation.
From ZAPP email:
There are a few exciting events coming your way very soon! Next Thursday October 14, artist / author and now former ZAPP outreach intern Graham Isaac is presenting Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest. Graham’s exhibit focuses on Seattle and how it’s changed over the years. Using photography, cartoon illustrations and prose, he grapples with themes of neighborhood pride, changing social landscapes and alienation from the familiar. The exhibit is from 5-8 p.m. @ ZAPP, is free, and will be running alongside the Blitz Capitol Hill Arts Walk.
